Hello, I’m Emma, founder of The Flawed Journey a private practice I created in 2019 to offer a space that feels real, safe, and deeply supportive. I work with adults who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them - overthinking, people-pleasing, anxiety that spirals, low self-esteem, or the lingering impact of childhood experiences.
You might feel disconnected from yourself, struggling in your relationships, or wondering why you keep repeating the same patterns even when you know they’re not helping. Maybe you’re simply tired of carrying everything alone.

Individuals and couples who worked with me usually expressed relief because they found someone who can finally help them make sense of their distress and pain without feeling judged. Their goals usually centered around being liberated from their distress (e.g., anxiety, depression, self-doubt, anger) so that they can maximize their potential and not just live but live well.

As a clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience, I help people gently make sense of what’s hurting, especially the effects of childhood and complex trauma. When you’ve spent years carrying pain alone, it can feel confusing, heavy, or even impossible to untangle. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based therapy. Together, we look beneath the surface to understand the patterns, emotions, and unmet needs shaping your life, so real change can begin.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind (Quote Fritz Perls). Gestalt therapy has the flexibility in its approach to help hold space for the whites/blacks and greys of life. Together, therapist and client can journey to help you deepen your own perspective of yourself and better understand how you function as an organism/environment field - a biological, thinking, feeling being - and do both inner, and relational work to support you with the challenges that present themselves in your life at this given moment.

We all wish to live the abundant life; however, if we listen to today's world filled with nothing but materialism and vanities, it will only lead us to a ditch. This elusive abundant life has nothing to do with external circumstances and certainly not with our material state. Real happiness installs itself when a person finds his/her true place and purpose in The Lord Jesus Christ.

I work extensively with individuals navigating life transitions, whether clearly defined or quietly unfolding. These moments, big or small, can leave us feeling unrooted, uncertain, or adrift. With my expertise in neuroscience, I help clients understand how change affects the mind and body, while using practical and reflective strategies to support clarity, emotional regulation, and more grounded decision-making during times of transition.
As a certified Death Doula, a core area of my practice is grief and bereavement, particularly within Asian cultural contexts, where loss is often experienced in complex & sometimes unspoken ways.

Jocelyn believes that just as plants bend towards the sky, everyone of us have within ourselves the propensity to seek healing and growth; the task of therapy is therefore to dig deep, uncover and facilitate these processes. This is made possible through increased self-knowledge and self-compassion, and an expansion of the capacity to engage in meaningful relationships. Jocelyn believes that change is co-created by the client and therapist in collaboration, with safety and authenticity as the cornerstones.

It’s not one of those days, when it’s almost everyday you feel low and empty. You can’t quite remember when it began, maybe years ago and it never really went away. Your fuel is depleting fast, your mind is begging for a relief. You want to do everything yet nothing feels right. Your past keeps resurfacing, you thought you had already made sense of it, so why is it still here? Your chest feels tight, your heart races, you hardly recognise yourself anymore. You only know something has to change, this can’t keep hurting the way it does.

At times, life is hard, and we sometimes find ourselves in problem situations that we struggle to cope with. Our family and friends, who normally provide us with most of our emotional support, are not always able to help. Indeed, though well-meaning, their advice can actually be counter-productive and increase our personal difficulties. This is where Counselling Therapy can be especially useful. We provide support to clients suffering from a range of issues that most of us face at some time, including stress & anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship troubles, academic/work issues, trauma & poor personal boundaries.

You're a high-achiever, crushing it at work, and want relationships that feel as fulfilling as your professional success. You're probably also wondering what life would look like if transitions and endings were a little smoother, and maybe curious about what life would be like if you weren't in overdrive all the time.
Additionally, I'm an ally who has provided affirming care to the LGBTQ+ population in Singapore since 2020. I'm also kink-allied and have worked with individuals navigating ethical non-monogamy.

ADHD, sex addictions and shame have an impact on your quality of life. Despite overachieving at work, you are unable to appreciate your success. You are anticipating the next screw-up. You are waiting for others to criticise you. You wonder why you can't feel inner joy like others. Dealing with your self-doubt and low self-esteem is tiring. To cope, you put on a 'I'm fine' mask. Hoping that others will believe in you and begin to trust you Even when they do, you will feel hollow on the inside because they do not know the true you. If they don't, you feel even worse about yourself. This is a lose-lose situation in either case.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counselling
How can I find a therapist in Singapore?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
