Paul C. Holinger, M.D., M.P.H., is a psychiatrist and an adult and child/adolescent psychoanalyst. He is Training/Supervising Analyst at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis, where he is Co-Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Training Program; he is also Professor of Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center. He has authored several articles and books in psychiatric epidemiology, psychoanalysis, affect theory (feelings), and infant and child development, including Suicide And Homicide Among Adolescents and Violent Deaths In The United States. His most recent book is titled What Babies Say Before They Can Talk: The Nine Signals Infants Use To Express Their Feelings; this has been a Book-of-the Month Club selection and translated into several languages, including Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic.
