I believe that helpful therapy unfolds in an environment that is comfortable, empowering, safe, and one that allows for full expression. It is also important that the person I am working with can sense that I am listening attentively as they share the various layers of their experience. Individuals often seek help because they are unsettled or upset by what they are feeling. I aim to help clients "hold" their current experience without becoming overwhelmed, and eventually, to use those feelings as valuable information as we move through the therapeutic process.

The tools I use draw upon my training in a number of approaches to therapy, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Dynamic Psychotherapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches. The texture of a person's concerns, as well as their preferences, will shape the type of work that we do.

The common thread in all of these approaches to therapy is how critical and healing it can be to begin to slow down, listen to one's present experience, and tune into the ebbs and flows of the mind and body.
