Many people who find their way to this work have spent a long time trying to put words to experiences that don’t always fit easily into ordinary conversation. They may feel things intensely, think in complex or creative ways, or find that their inner world moves in images, sensations, or metaphor rather than straightforward explanations. I work especially well with people who feel deeply, think creatively, or have struggled to find therapy that makes space for imagination, sensitivity, or non-linear ways of processing experience.

High-performing professionals and entrepreneurs often succeed in business but silently struggle at home. Whether your marriage feels on the brink or you simply want deeper connection, I provide a safe, structured space to realign love and leadership. Research shows couples therapy ranks lowest in client satisfaction, often leaving professionals frustrated. That’s why I created the Aroha Rapid Transformation Method—a practical, results-focused approach that helps couples move quickly from stress and disconnection to clarity, intimacy, and trust.

Kia ora! My name is Nat and I am an experienced counsellor working individually with teens and adults. My practice is fully online, which means I see clients living around Aotearoa from my little corner of West Auckland. My clients are from all walks of life, but some of the common issues people come to me about include anxiety, self-esteem, boundary setting, and identity/self-discovery. Therapy should be as unique as you are. That’s why I aim to be neurodiversity-affirming and person-centered in my counselling work. Our work together is tailored to you and your unique goals - no one-size-fits-all approach here.

Hi, I'm Nick. I primarily serve LGBTQIA+, creative/open, 21yo+ people who have experienced distress or traumas in life and need to find relief & improve their quality of life. I got into this work because after my own journey of improving my wellbeing, it became really meaningful and purposeful to facilitate other peoples journey towards wellbeing and pass on what I found actually worked. I use experiential methods like IFS, STAIR, IPNB, Mindful Somatic, Hakomi, Coherence, and EFIT/attachment based, which are shown to reintegrate hard to change parts of the brain to be more flexible, adaptable, coherent, energized, and stable.

The stories of our lives through the events and experiences, wanted and unwanted, that happen around us and to us, are the keys to our present-day ways of being. Our approaches, responses and understandings are based on these stories. These stories, and our formed views of those, are called narratives, and these narratives are both powerful and influential in wanted, and unwanted ways. I am interested in the stories of your life and your formed Attachment Styles which started at birth through to childhood and into adulthood, and what is happening in your life now, which at times is unwelcomed, unwanted and disruptive.

Feeling anxious, disconnected in your relationships, or stuck in a difficult season of life? I support youth, adults, and couples who are dealing with overthinking, conflict, low confidence, stress, low mood, or a loss of direction. Many of the people I work with are used to handling things on their own and want counselling that feels practical, approachable, and genuinely useful. Together, we’ll make sense of what’s happening, build tools that fit your life, and help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

Bisexual Counsellors
What is bisexual-affirming therapy?
Bisexual-affirming therapy is a type of mental health support that fully affirms and reflects a client’s bisexual identity. It is rooted in acceptance and does not attempt to change or question an individual’s orientation. In this type of therapy, clients work with a therapist who understands the unique experiences of bisexual people. This support is especially important, as research shows that bisexual individuals face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation compared to other groups. Bisexual-affirming therapy acknowledges that bisexual individuals may encounter specific stressors—such as invalidation, relationship challenges, and minority stress—that require specialised understanding and intervention. Many therapists also provide couples therapy for bisexual partners, helping them navigate relationship dynamics, communication challenges, or external stressors that may impact their relationship. While not required, some clients prefer working with bisexual therapists who may bring personal insight to the therapeutic relationship. However, a non-bisexual therapist with strong training and a genuine commitment to affirmation can be equally effective. The most important factor is finding a therapist who understands how identity impacts mental health and can create a space of trust and respect.

What can a bisexual therapist help with?
Bisexual-affirming therapists can provide support across a wide range of concerns relevant to bisexual individuals. Whether through personal or professional experience, they often have specialised knowledge in areas such as the coming out process, navigating stereotypes, and dealing with common stressors. Relationship support is another key area of focus, as bisexual clients may face unique challenge when dating or maintaining relationships across genders. Affirming therapists can also help clients build coping strategies for managing discrimination or stigma. Additionally, many bisexual-affirming therapists can connect clients to other providers or community-based resources—such as bisexual support groups or LGBTQ+ organisations—that offer additional affirming spaces for connection. It's important to note that therapists provide can talk therapy and counseling services but do not prescribe medication—if medication is needed for conditions like depression or anxiety, they will coordinate care with a psychiatrist or primary care physician who can provide psychiatric medication management alongside therapeutic support.

How do I find a bisexual therapist?
The Psychology Today online directory is a helpful tool for finding bisexual-affirming therapists. You can use search filters to identify therapists who specialise in LGBTQ+ care and work specifically with bisexual clients. You can also filter by clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, accepted insurance, session costs, and languages spoken to find the right fit. During initial consultations or early sessions, ask potential therapists about their specific training in bisexual-affirming care, their experience with LGBTQ+ clients, and their therapeutic approach to identity-related concerns. An effective bisexual-affirming therapist will demonstrate genuine understanding of bisexual experiences, including awareness of the unique challenges facing bisexual individuals. You can also look for credentials or continuing education in areas such as LGBTQ+ mental health, trauma-informed care, and intersectionality.
