From my own experience of being a parent, seasons of change, and life’s challenges, I know what it’s like when things feel messy and uncertain.
I aim to create a warm, supportive space where you can come as you are. My hope is that you feel genuinely heard, and able to be yourself in an atmosphere of care and curiosity. Counselling offers a space to reflect on your experiences and to make sense of the challenges you may be facing.

I work with individuals across a broad spectrum of careers and career stages — from those building momentum early on to senior executives carrying the weight of high-stakes decisions and teams. Many arrive burnt out, stretched thin, or quietly aware that how they think and work doesn't match how they're expected to perform. I specialize in neurodivergent conditions, including ADHD and Autism, but my approach works whether or not that label fits — practical, direct, and focused on what actually helps you function and lead well. My own family shares these dynamics, so this understanding runs deeper than theory.

Difficult thoughts and feelings arise when we care. We ignore them at our peril. Therapy provides a safe space to become clear about our feelings so we can move forward with our lives. As the saying goes, life is one darn thing after another. We need to make sure it's not the same darn thing. For over 20 years I have been privileged to work alongside clients as they make changes; sharing skills and strategies towards this end.

Many people who find their way to this work have spent a long time trying to put words to experiences that don’t always fit easily into ordinary conversation. They may feel things intensely, think in complex or creative ways, or find that their inner world moves in images, sensations, or metaphor rather than straightforward explanations. I work especially well with people who feel deeply, think creatively, or have struggled to find therapy that makes space for imagination, sensitivity, or non-linear ways of processing experience.

Many of the people I work with are capable, high-functioning adults who look 'fine' from the outside, but inside they’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or are carrying more than they should have to. You may be navigating relationship strain, workplace stress or burnout, trauma, or a have a sense that something could be better. Perhaps you hold responsibility for others at work or at home, and there is very little space where you can be supported yourself. I am a Masters-qualified counsellor & supervisor with substantial experience in trauma recovery, domestic & family violence work, and supporting professionals in high-pressure roles.

High-performing professionals and entrepreneurs often succeed in business but silently struggle at home. Whether your marriage feels on the brink or you simply want deeper connection, I provide a safe, structured space to realign love and leadership. Research shows couples therapy ranks lowest in client satisfaction, often leaving professionals frustrated. That’s why I created the Aroha Rapid Transformation Method—a practical, results-focused approach that helps couples move quickly from stress and disconnection to clarity, intimacy, and trust.

What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
