My ideal client is someone that is curious about themselves and others. They are willing to explore their behaviour and look at their protective layers. They are willing to risk and sometimes step out of their comfort zone. They would require respect and curiosity in therapy. The symptoms might be dysfunctional - anxiety, depression, relationship discord or adaptation issues, but they all serve a function.

Kia ora! I'm Mark. I use he/him/his pronouns. I have a strong belief that everyone can have a sense of their identity, regardless of their sexuality, where they can embrace their unique life pathway without judgment. I feel strongly about supporting the empowerment of women, I desire to create an environment of care and support for male clients who struggle with the notion that they too can express their vulnerability, sensitivity, and empathy. As a gay man, I feel I have a history and depth of experience to understand the different challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ people, as well as other societal minority groups.

I work with adults or young people seeking clarity about how they think and learn. They may be facing challenges with focus, memory, learning new skills, or suspect they have dyslexia, are intellectually gifted or face challenges in reading or maths. Some want answers after a family member’s diagnosis, others want to better understand their cognitive profile to unlock their potential. Whether navigating education, work, or life transitions, they’re looking for evidence-based insight and strategies to move forward with confidence.

Sessions can occur online or in person.
I understand that each person is unique and there are also patterns that can make life difficult for us. My focus is to help you discover and move towards your goals, values, and a life that feels meaningful to you. I provide a safe, inclusive space for you to figure things out. I will listen and work with you to understand how patterns of coping (that might have been helpful in the past) are making life feel difficult for you today. I have experience working with adults and young people presenting with a range of challenges including anxiety, depression/low mood, trauma, PTSD, stress, offending behaviours, and life changes.

If you’re wanting 'power with' sessions that honor your lived experience, need an accessible price point, prefer curiosity & compassion over diagnosis & pathology, resonate with my offerings, and prefer online sessions from home at a time that suits you, feel free to reach out to book in a free 15 minute 'see if we're a good fit' chat.
Hi, I'm Nick. If you're interested in Internal Family Systems, Mindful Somatic psychology, nervous system regulation, or compassionate approaches, I can help. You might be searching to find relief from past traumas, to update old patterns, to reinstate your sense of self, or need emotional support during a challenging time. It's important to me that sessions are affordable, can cater to clients who are new to therapy or more experienced, are trauma-informed, and can be either long-term or short-term, depending on where you're at. If having an LGBTQIA+ counselor is important to you for creating a sense of safety, you're in luck! :)

However we grow up, childhood experience creates habits and expectations that shape our adult selves. Often these habits seem to get in our way. What once kept us safe may now cause us pain, inhibition, depression, addiction and more. Therapy begins with the experience of being heard, without judgement. The client is the expert on their own way of living. So I ask them to teach me about themselves, while I try to get a feeling for the things that frustrate them and how they might find the freedom to live richer, more satisfying lives.

So often we talk or act in ways we wouldn't choose to if we were being our authentic selves. I use a 'parts approach' to help my clients make sense of their mind and bodies. With awareness, they learn to respond to stressors in their life with more choice and freedom.
