I offer therapy, support and care around the issues affecting your life. I have a particular interest in working with clients affected by disordered eating.
My work is underpinned by 25 years of experience with both children and adults, having trained as a Social Worker and then specialising with Post Graduate Training in Child therapy. More recently I have completed 5 years training in Transactional Analysis and am now a Certified Transactional Analyst. I believe strongly that people are the experts in their own lives and as such my role is around enabling people to access their own wisdom and knowledge.
I work relationally to explore what the function of any difficulties around eating are and their origins. In my experience, eating disorders are often an expression of underlying unhappiness with oneself in some aspect. Therapy aims to give understanding around what has caused this and rebuild the individual's capacity to see their inherent value and worth.
Developing insight into one’s own thinking processes and patterns is a way of empowering people to become their own therapists over time. My approach is non-judgemental and supportive- in my experience self-care and self-compassion are key elements to this work.
