I'm here to support you through anxiety, anger, grief, health changes, or the exhaustion of masking your neurodivergent self. Whether you're healing from trauma, body image struggles, or at a crossroads, you're welcome here (queer-affirming). I provide a space where you can be authentically you, combining creative expression with conversation to explore what words alone cannot capture. You can process emotions, discover insights, and reconnect with yourself. Together, we'll work toward your goals-whether managing anxiety, building resilience, improving relationships, or finding more joy and meaning in everyday life.

I have always had time for peoples’ stories and in 2002, soon after I entered my counselling study, I knew I would love this work. I have experience with a diversity of issues and now specialize in relationships - working with individuals and couples. For couples I offer space away from outside pressure so they can be heard. For individuals I help them find their best way forward, be it within their current relationship or out of it. My mediation and communication experience for the Family Court equips me well to help those leaving relationships whilst my other expertise and experience equips me well for keeping couples together.

Kia ora koutou. Sometimes everything can get too much and is hard to navigate. Sometimes the inside gets really noisy, and it becomes hard to operate. It is completely normal to experience and to get stuck in these times or perhaps notice some unhelpful patterns of behaviour. I'm passionate about supporting people to find their way through these times. Together we will explore your world. To help you understand where you are; see different perspectives; and help you find practical solutions; that will initially help you cope and then begin to move forward.

Having been trained as both a psychotherapist and a Yoga psychology teacher, I view life’s experiences as integral to our soul’s journey toward wholeness. By learning from our past and transcending suffering, we cultivate greater awareness, awaken our inner light, uncover our purpose, and recognize our innate qualities & gifts. My approach integrates the scientific foundations of Western psychology—including psychodynamic & transpersonal perspectives—with the wisdom of Eastern and Indigenous traditions, such as Yoga philosophy & mindfulness. If this perspective resonates with you, I would be honoured to support you on your journey.

Reaching out for grief support can feel huge, especially when you’re exhausted, numb, overwhelmed, or unsure what you even need. You may be facing bereavement, anticipatory grief, or a loss that isn’t always recognised like a friendship breakup, health change, shifting roles (becoming a caregiver or new parent), moving towns, or pet loss. Sometimes people seek help for anxiety or feeling “not like themselves,” and only later realise grief is part of the picture. You want a steady place to make sense of what’s happened and take one step at a time.

My whole professional life I worked for people face-to-face. First as a social justice lawyer, later as a qualified acupuncturist and counselor. I enjoy supporting people- young and old - who are struggling with a variety of mental health issues, to find their own answers and solutions which enables them to move forward.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
