My name is Leith Thompson. I'm married with 4 grown children and eleven grand-children. My wife Donna and I live in Tauranga, NZ. I've been involved in the caring for people profession for over thirty years, before that I drove forklifts and worked as a baker. I have contracted to Mental Health and local Schools for many years and I have worked with ages five to eighty five. My wife and I make the most of our leisure time by enjoying good movies, great coffee and travelling. To relax I play table tennis and pool.
I enjoy working with people of all ages, I work with empathy, non judgment and I try to just be myself. I enjoy making sense of problems through CBT and explore these through Narrative Therapy. I work from a strength based perspective...looking to see what strengths people have and already do well. I use a person-child centred approach and use play therapy.
When life hurts...and you need someone to talk to. My childhood was tough and that's probably the reason why I became a counsellor. I understand when people are in pain and I like to help them move through their pain to recovery and to realise hope and the potential they have to live their lives.
