In my counselling practice I use an eclectic approach with a client-centred focus to help clients identify their preferred futures, or explore their concerns, challenges, thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. We work together, focusing on solutions, clarifying goals and strategies, eliciting the client’s existing strengths, and incorporating new learnings into everyday life. I use a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy format but can also draw on aspects from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness.
Counselling is a very personal endeavour and is most effective when individually tailored to best serve you, the client. The goal is to help the client identify those Incredible Connections that give meaning to their lives. Solution Focused Brief Therapy is very well suited for this purpose.
