I believe that addiction is a primary disease and that a person's other issues will stem from this fundamental problem. Therefore it's important to treat the addiction first. People with addiction often use alcohol and other drugs or behaviours to 'cope'. In the beginning the substance or the behaviour (such as sex addiction) was the 'solution', but after a while it became the problem. My approach is to offer therapy that is focused on a new, results-focused solution. The goal is offering my clients 'tools' so that they can change behaviour that is causing problems in their lives.

If you are considering psychological therapy, we are here to give you a brief overview of how the process works, what to anticipate, and how to make the most of your sessions. Please contact me directly to see if I am the right person to help you. CBT and ACT are modern, well-structured, and time-limited therapy approaches. The first session typically follows a structured process, where I ask a series of questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of the key psychological processes that may be contributing to your distress. At the end of this session, I often provide a verbal summary to ensure that it resonates with you.

I am passionate about helping people break through barriers that are commonly imposed by the dominant culture while finding ways to work more comfortably both inside and outside ‘the box’ to achieve goals. I've worked with clients in settings ranging from prison to university, and you can count on my acceptance ‘as you are’ without judgment while helping you recognize and recover your own strengths. I bring expertise to support you with a wide variety of concerns, and I have particularly enjoyed working with clients whose lived experience includes neurodiversity, gender diversity, and relationship diversity.

UNIQUE I don’t believe in “one solution fits all”. So I do an initial assessment and get to know you and your therapy goals. I train in different methods and techniques and tailor the session to your needs. HOLISTIC My approach to well-being and happiness is holistic. I look at the different elements in your life and your environment to better understand where you are at right now and what you need. I work on being present, mindful, and accepting. EMPOWERING I believe in giving people tools to apply in their lives outside of the therapy room. I like to give people the autonomy to make choices and perfect their reflective skills.

I offer a warm, accepting, and confidential space where you feel listened to. I have experience supporting people with a wide range of issues including; feeling disconnected, social and relationship challenges, navigating life changes, loss, identity struggles, and low self-worth; and people who identify as highly sensitive or neurodiverse. Psychotherapy allows us to explore why we feel and behave the way we do & can help us learn to manage our emotions. Developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and our patterns can give us new perspectives, help us make meaningful changes, and may help us accept things we can’t change.
