I offer a warm, accepting and confidential space where you feel listened to. I am experienced in helping a diverse range of people with challenges impacting how they feel and live. These include feeling disconnected or overwhelmed, struggles with identity, low self-worth and self-esteem, questioning purpose in life, repeating behaviours, grief and difficult relationships. Psychotherapy helps us explore why we feel, think and respond the way we do. It expands our self-understanding, helps us to recognise and manage our emotions more effectively, improves how we relate to others, and can help us to accept things we can't change.

I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, navigating complex families, chronic illness, trauma and PTSD, exploring gender/sexuality, and clients who want to unpack long term patterns that may be affecting everyday life, relationships and how they see themselves.
I practice a type of therapy called integrative relational psychotherapy; drawing from relational, humanistic & psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment theory, trauma theory, and parts work. Psychotherapy is sometimes referred to as depth psychology; it is usually a medium to long term form of therapy. My practice is T/LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity friendly.

My clinical background is in Psychodynamic psychotherapy with emphasis on Attachment theory and human development across the life span. Having an in-depth understanding of how our early beginnings impact our view of self, life, and relationships, assists me to support my clients toward developing empathy and compassion for themselves and others. I believe this can be an integral factor in the healing process and in attaining a sense of personal freedom.

Being flexible in the way that we think and being open to change is essential for developing and strengthening positive psychological wellbeing. Being psychologically fit is the foundation of a vital life. We all have ingrained habits, beliefs, rules, behaviours and ways of thinking about the world. Some of these provide us the tools to navigate our lives in a positive and flexible way and some can be severely restrictive, impacting us all in unique ways, from complex mental health issues to performance related difficulties in our work and relationships.

In our work together, we will concentrate on helping you create the most authentic, fulfilling, and happy version of your life, whatever that might look like for you. With gentle support and guidance, I will help you navigate your chosen path, whether that involves reducing stress, attaining inner peace, worrying less about others' opinions, gaining self-confidence, fostering enjoyable relationships, or enhancing your work life. I believe that our past shapes our present, and since we develop and may be hurt in relationships, healing and change also happen through relationships.

Therapy has changed a lot and we now know what works permanently. I also offer COUPLE therapy & Exec coaching. Distress in one area of life can cross over to other life domains. I work with children and adolescents (ages 5–18) experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, difficulties with self‑esteem or identity, social challenges, or behavioural struggles at home or at school.
I provide child and adolescent psychotherapy. Through play, talk, and creative activities tailored to each child, I help them explore feelings, experiences, and relationships, noticing how these shape thoughts, emotions, and connections with others. I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent children and their families.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
