Hi everyone. I'm Amy; I'm a Registered Psychologist in New Zealand and a registered Forensic Psychologist in the UK. I am passionate about meeting clients where they are at and walking alongside to support them to feel heard and develop self-compassion. I believe that by telling and understanding our stories in new ways, we can enrich the meaning we give to ourselves and our lives. In this way, we find that the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem.
I have experience in Correctional, Forensic Mental Health and Community settings working with adults and youth with a range of personality and mental health difficulties. I have specific interests in working with issues relating to personality, trauma, harmful/risky behaviours (i.e. violence, substance abuse) and mental health.
I work from a trauma-informed mindset using an integrated approach informed by a range of models including: Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Self-Change, Compassionate Mind and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
