Of course discrimination is a sad thing.

But :-) prisons have a predominantly male population, society dropouts tend to be male.

If you look at the top of you see mainly man, but if you look to the bottom it is the same.

People who actively discriminate are also mostly male (I think); maybe that's why we perceive this domination of male humans.

From a biological perspective these things are not that difficult to understand.

From a happiness perspective I don't know. As most ideas, gender equality will benefit some and harm others.

We have even proof that equal societies tend to become unhappy; so some inequality is sometimes a good thing.

Maybe in the future we can mix some stuff in our drinking water and make all people happy. The gender equality problem would probably disappear.
