Naomi Weinshenker M.D.

Dr. Naomi Weinshenker is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist in private practice in New Jersey. She is a graduate of Yale University and received her M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She completed a residency in psychiatry at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center and a fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry at Boston Children’s Hospital – both divisions of Harvard Medical School. Her positions and appointments have included Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ from 1996–2000. She was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine from 2000–06, with primary appointment at the renowned NYU Child Study Center. Dr. Weinshenker is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Weinshenker’s journalism exploits began in high school, when she wrote a weekly column for her local newspaper! As a broadcaster, she produced, wrote and anchored “Healthy Lifestyles”, a weekly health segment broadcast to students and faculty at Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ. In 2006 and 2007, Dr. Weinshenker worked as a freelance medical reporter at News 12 Connecticut. Also in 2007, she co-hosted the series “Tomorrow’s Medicine Today” on New Jersey public television. This 13-part series highlighted important research breakthroughs at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Weinshenker’s articles have appeared in NJ Life Health and Beauty magazine, Bergen Health & Life magazine, Parents.com and Yourteenmag.com. She is a past recipient of the New Jersey Governor’s Council on Mental Health Stigma Ambassador Award in Media, Arts and Entertainment for her contributions to the media and patient care.
