Michael A. Perelman, Ph.D. is the Co-Director of the Human Sexuality Program, and Emeritus Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Reproductive Medicine, and Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York-Presbyterian. He is also the founder of the MAP Education & Research Foundation, a public charity dedicated to educating healthcare providers about the importance of maintaining a biomedical-psychosocial and cultural approach to the diagnosis and treatment of sexual disorders. A National Institute of Health Fellow, he received his MS, M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees in clinical psychology from Columbia University-- in 1976 writing the first sex therapy doctoral dissertation in Columbia's history. He serves on many professional society editorial committees and often consults to the pharmaceutical industry.

Perelman is a former president of the Society for Sex Therapy & Research and is the Emeritus Editor-in-Chief of Current Sexual Health Reports. Dr. Perelman developed the Sexual Tipping Point model which is embraced by healthcare professionals globally. He is regarded as one of the most prominent sex therapists in the world, with his work being frequently cited in professional journals and featured in the media.

Michael is an AASECT certified sex therapy diplomate and supervisor. AASECT presented him with their 2012 Award for Professional Standard of Excellence and 2019 Award for Integrative Approaches to Sex Therapy. He's a Fellow of the SMSNA, ISSWSH & SSSS.
