Lisa Sheinhouse M.A.
Lisa Sheinhouse, M.A., is the director of community programs at Ohel Children's Home and Family Services. In this role, she is responsible for a variety of the organization’s day and community-based programs to support and rehabilitate individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health conditions like autism.
Every day, Lisa aims to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals. She oversees Personalized by Ohel, a novel design studio that creates custom merchandise with a meaningful mission. The business employs individuals with developmental disabilities who assist with efforts across photography, marketing, design and more. Over the years, Lisa has helped Ohel employment programs grow by 75% through her customized care and coaching, placing hundreds of individuals in jobs they love.
Lisa’s additional responsibilities at Ohel include supervising local area coordinators, managers and clinical staff of programs including the nurses, psychologists and social workers to ensure that individuals with disabilities are receiving quality care and support. She also leads and participates in several external committees to ensure agency quality assurance, the enforcement of new policies and procedures and support ongoing agency planning.
As a mom to a child with ADHD, Lisa often provides her perspective and best practices to media publications like The Jewish Press. Prior to Ohel, Lisa worked at Touro College as an academic advisor where she has helped students with academic issues choose their career paths. For the last 15 years, she has served as an adjunct professor within the school’s psychology department, where she also earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of school psychology.
