Alex Korb Ph.D.


Alex Korb, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist, coach, and bestselling author of The Upward Spiral: Using Neuroscience to Reverse the Course of Depression. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UCLA. He earned a BS in neuroscience from Brown University in 2002, and his Ph.D. from UCLA in 2010. His research interests including neuroimaging of mood and anxiety disorders, as well as development of a new brain stimulation technique using focused ultrasound. Outside of the lab he coaches the UCLA women's ultimate frisbee team, where he uses his knowledge of brain and behavior to unlock their peak performance.
