Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

It's hard to get over the shame and stigma of tears...i know since i've always viewed my own as a sign of weakness, especially if in front of other people. But thank you for this different point of view, that it is emotionally healthy to cry and doesn't mean there's something wrong with you. I haven't released my feelings that way until recently in front of other people, and it always helped me to have someone around to work through it with.
P.S. - I hear the French view a woman's tears as beautiful (perhaps men too)
