Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

Dr. Cortney, I recently had an experience where I seemed to have lost feelings for my girlfriend of 2 months and I have been trying to figure out why this happened and how past events might tie into a cause for the vanishing of the feelings or if they are involved at all. As I have been trying to find a cause and a solution to this I have been wondering how much I am lying to myself in the process. I was head over heels crazy for this girl about a month ago and one day it was just gone and I've been telling myself there has to be a reason because nothing changed between us to cause the change and there wasn't a life altering event that effected thugs either, but I am wondering if I am lying to myself about if I still have feelings for her or if I can fix it or if I'm lying about there being nothing left and I should just throw away the great thing I have with this awesome girl
