Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

Young kids are insecure and impressionable and if you seperate one of them from their herd they tend to be harmless and their insecurities start to show. I wouldn't worry about it much if I were you because these kids often reach an age and they grow from being a part of the pack to being fearful of being ridiculed by the younger ones. Its an endless cycle I tell ya. You sound like a very charming and intelligent person, I'm sure your social life is very vibrant and colorful, dont let any youngsters alter your impression of yourself.
