Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

very much needed analysis - great and fearless article, very timely, unlike many who limit ocd on contagion ocd and clinical depression on sadness and crying.
it is interesting because of the way some people develop sort of a different kinds of moral ocd through exposure to media, especially crime, violence or sensational morbid stories (and usually the ones who shouldn't) and it doesn't create even a second thought where it should.
