A business owner wants to stay in business. He needs employees to do the work. Employees want payment to do the work. The employer needs to pay the employees a fair wage to convince them to work there. Good workers help the bottom line, so the employer needs to retain the good workers. Ignoring the wants of the good workers will lead to them to quit and the employer will need to hire someone new.

Consumers need food, goods and services. Business owners want those consumers to buy his product. The business needs to provide a quality product at a fair price to get consumers to buy. Repeat customers and word of mouth advertising are vital to most businesses. If a business owner wants to be successful he needs to ensure his product always meets certain standards.

The same thing applies to marriages. Call it a want or a need, it really doesn't matter. Ignoring wants is not good for business.
