Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

I really enjoyed this article and your insight was really good! One of my favorite things that you said was that when you go to do things subconciously you wonder how other people will think of that. I catch myself doing this quite often. When I choose to eat a certain thing, or use a plastic straw I wonder how that will make others feel. I am not a fan of most social norms because I think they are very restricting. We should not have to worry what others think as long as we are not doing something very wrong. Social norms are things that are hard to change, and are not very fun to take part in.
