Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

I agree that the people around you influence the social norms or expected behaviors that you think are right. The first influence on these behaviors are your parents. They are the ones that most likely had these beliefs first and will pass them down to you. I also think that the people you work with or are around daily will have an influence on the way you view things. I disagree with the example used saying that the #metoo/#Timesup slogans will influence boys/men to do the right or wrong thing. I think by that point in their life they have had some type of male role model that has had more of an impact on their beliefs or views about how to treat women. I think that these can make others realize how much sexual assault and other bad things happen, but do not necessarily think it would influence someone to think it was ok or not ok.
