The Season of Now

Is it Christmastime or is it Now?

It is simply today... even more simply: now.

Look around. Breathe in, and as you exhale silently say "I am here now."

Be present with this moment... And then this one... And now this one.

You may regularly hear that it is "The Holidays," "Christmastime," or the "Season of Joy."

I don't mean to be a Scrooge. I'm not trying to outdo the Grinch.

On the contrary, I am trying to offer you an unadorned present.

This one. .. And then this one... And now this one.

The holiday season can sometimes come with so much baggage:

"It's the hap-happiest season of all..."

"'Tis the season to be jolly..."

"From now on, our troubles will be out of sight..."

Release the baggage, the heaviness, the evaluations, the striving, the comparisons, the breathless pursuit of the culturally indoctrinated rituals and obligatory feelings.

And breathe. And be mindful of this moment. This moment is your life... And then this one... And now this one.

The songs, the signs, and the sales all tell you it's the holiday season. You can choose to call it the holiday season too. And if you do, I hope it is a meaningful unfolding of valued moments.

And no matter what you choose to call it. No matter what expectations and labels are applied, it is simply...

Now.
