L i f e ' s c h a l l e n g e s can present an opportunity for growth and personal development. However, sometimes, these challenges may seem too much. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling depressed, anxious and overwhelmed. Or perhaps just stuck? Dr. McAteer can help in these situations, by providing evidenced based therapy which treats individual difficulties. These might include anxiety, depression, addiction or perhaps relational difficulties with a partner. Whatever your problem, psychotherapy with Susan offers a safe, confidential, diversity friendly, space to work through it.
Susan has a humanistic belief in change and growth throughout the lifespan. She works with a number of therapy models, like CBT and EFT, to achieve change. The goal in therapy is not to make life’s difficulties disappear but rather to improve coping and reduce distress. When coping improves, clients are free to focus on maximising their own potential.
For some people, psychotherapy may be focused on finding short-term solutions to specific issues while for others it may be a commitment to personal growth. As the saying goes "We cannot change the wind, but we can learn to sail".
