Dr Deirdre Walsh is a holistic psychologist and yoga instructor. Established in 1987, The Elmwood Therapy Centre, is one of the oldest counselling and psychotherapy services in Ireland. The centre was set up to provide therapy to individuals, couples and families who want to take the first step towards resolving their issues, improving their sense of well-being and developing the confidence to change. As part of a new initiative to support the community, Elmwood has now introduced low cost counselling. This service is offered by trainee and pre-accredited therapists who are trained to Masters level, who engage in intensive professional supervision, and strictly adhere to a code of ethics.

As a clinical psychologist and neuroscientist, Dr. Pousada uses a holistic approach to explore the reasons underlying symptoms helping you to understand the issues that you are experiencing. Therefore, she practices from an integrative approach with a special focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy in combination with other techniques. Her main goal is to assist you in exploring yourself, to find your strengths to enable you to overcome difficulties, developing strategies and coping skills in order to achieve your full potential and improve your quality of life.

A client experiencing issues of anxiety, depression, family trauma, bullying, relationship challenges, parenting, low self esteem and confidence. A need to get to know oneself better. A need to understand a situation, a person, or circumstance more fully. A need for peace of mind and heart. A need for answers to internal questions that are causing unrest. The client wants peace of mind and heart as there is or are some thing(s) causing them distress. The client may not know what the issues are. I offer the client a safe space to discover what they need help with and walk with them on that journey.

Education and background Liz Moran MIACP holds a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School, a professional Diploma in Couple Counselling from IICP and Professional Training in Family Therapy and CBT also from IICP With a particular interest in Person-Centred and Psychodynamic therapy Liz works from an integrative framework drawing on different approaches tailoring therapy to the needs of each client. Liz understands each client is unique, and not every individual may benefit from the same treatment approach. Liz has over 15 years’ experience working with individuals and couples.
