When things feel too much it is hard to respond creatively to life's challenges. Our natural tendency is to seek safety in the known and we may fall into old defensive patterns. This can be at the heart of a feeling of stuck-ness in our lives and may show up in anxiety, depression, anger, relationship difficulties, and the feeling that life is more of a struggle than it needs to be. Mindfulness based psychotherapy offers a non-judgemental exploration of feelings, thoughts and perceptions in present moment, and allows a reflection on what may no longer be helpful.

Being able to tolerate our actual experience without having to get rid of anything can become a path to acceptance and the possibility of change. This is a gentle and holistic approach and the intention is to offer a supportive and compassionate space where you can feel safe to explore what is happening for you.
Sometimes art or creative process may be introduced to help express and process what emerges. How the process unfolds is individual to each person and is guided by what feels right for you. I am an experienced art therapist and am currently in year four of psychotherapy training. I am happy to respond to any queries you may have about this way of working.
