Hello. I am James Foley the provider of counselling at Prevail, a professional therapy service for the west of Dublin. I am keen to help those with emotional hurt and negative behaviours in my locality. After nearly 30 years of caring for the emotionally broken I now want to provide my services for those in my own locality. I do not discriminate working with a client based on their presentation. I adapt to the clients needs and personality in providing the service that suit them best. The relationship between the client and counsellor is what matters most in bringing about positive change, and empathic listening is key to this.
I have nearly 30 years of experience in mental health care. First through nursing and now counselling. I have extensive experience with suicide, working with Pieta for almost 3 years. I also worked for over 11 years in the HSE addiction services. I regularly work with issues such as phobias, relationships, depression, self-esteem, grief and work stress.
My cognitive approach guides how I work, that negative thoughts produce negative emotions and behaviours. Combining this with person-centred techniques of reflective listening works well. My initial session is €60 for an assessment to explore your therapy needs. Contact me by email or phone to have a brief chat beforehand. Thanks for considering Prevail.
