Clients often come with issues in their relationships, bereavement, life work balance challenges, post-natal depression, parenting issues, loneliness or just the general feeling that life could be better than it is right now.
I have been Counselling couples and individuals since 2000 and clients have given feedback that they find my approach warm and friendly. I meet you where you’re at emotionally and help you to find the resources within yourself to move out of whatever “stuckness” you may be feelin.

I am an experienced, accredited Psychotherapist in private practice since 2011. My focus is seeing the person as unfolding at different stages along life's journey. Sometimes along the way we can be knocked sideways. Failure ,loss ,abuse, relationship issues or bad choices can leave us experiencing stress, loss ,anxiety and depression . Early intervention is essential and my role as psychotherapist is to listen and enable you to gain insight. Any issue when talked about and explored in a supportive non judgemental therapeutic relationship where you are understood and supported will bring about positive change.

My practice is tailored to mothers navigating the transformative journey of parenthood. They come seeking balance amidst the whirlwind of raising children, maintaining careers, and rediscovering their personal identities. These women strive to be fully present for their families, yet often find themselves overwhelmed, battling stress, and feeling disconnected from their own needs. Their goal is not just to cope, but to thrive, embracing motherhood while retaining a sense of self and achieving emotional well-being.

Taking the first step in deciding to attend therapy is often the hardest part, it can be difficult to admit to ourselves that we may need the intervention of another to assist us on this journey. Coming to speak allows an individual to be heard in way that is specific to them, a singular , and not to fit the specifics of ticking the boxes. Speaking about your way of experiencing life and it's difficulties and challenges, can free up a person and allow them to look through a different lens.

I am a qualified, accredited therapist working in North Dublin. Originally from England, I have lived in Dublin since 2006, raising my family here. I started my training in South Dublin in 2012, and my passion has taken me to research and develop a deep interest and understanding of Attachment. I believe having this understanding enhances my work with depression, anxiety, bereavement and grief, trauma and parent-adolescent work, in addition to the therapist-client relationship. It is also important for me to use my skills in other areas of my life and, as such I work have lectured at IICP and was a director with Empowerment Plus.

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
