I work in a client-centred way using a client’s strengths to change their relationship and circumstances. I believe that we are responsible for changing the course of our own lives but when we get bogged down in problems it is easy to lose sight of that. I work with challenging thoughts, setting clear and achievable goals, and using one’s strengths to change circumstances. Being a child and adolescent psychotherapist enables me to understand that our coping mechanisms stem from early life and our challenges. In therapy, I find it helpful to make links between early adverse experiences and current problems.
I am qualified to work with children, adolescents and adults. I have experience dealing with a variety of issues such as; sexuality, low self-esteem, bereavement, suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression and anger-related issues. I use a variety of creative mediums when working with children such as clay, sandtray, art and toys.
