As a neurodivergent therapist, I draw on lived experience alongside professional skills to support autistic and otherwise neurodivergent adults in working towards their own goals. Exploring who you really are, and identifying what you need in order to feel safe can be a difficult process to navigate alone. This is especially true when our surrounding environments do not always accommodate unique ways of sensing, processing, communicating, and being in the world.

Counselling and Psychotherapy for me personally, always has been a wonderful form of self-discovery. I like to refer to the counselling process as an introduction into a wonderful new world. For me personally, that new world that is within our own selves can become something similar to an undiscovered country. I like to bring my clients to a point in their journey where this begins to be the case for themselves as well, and help a new understanding to emerge. I offer help with Depression, Anxiety, Relationship Issues, to name only a few. I offer Short Term Solution Focused Counselling and Employment Assistance Programmes (EAP)

Senior Clinical Psychotherapist I work from a humanistic perspective with a person-centered ethos and Iintegrate this approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Integrating CBT and MI creates self-awareness and promotes evidence-based techniques, helping clients build the skills necessary to overcome obstacles, improve mental well-being, and achieve their goals with confidence and clarity. I also dedicate much time to working with adolescents and young adults with a diagnosis of ASD and co-morbid conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and OCD.

My clients tell me that they trust me. That is a great honour and one I treasure. Whether they come for a couple of sessions to find their feet after a broken heart, or if they are living with severe trauma such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, they feel safe with me. They know they will not be judged. They need a safe, confidential space to allow their pounding heart and rattled nerves to relax. They need a warm and caring person to believe them and they value my experience and expertise. I work creatively, often playfully and with a sense of joy and humour in order to facilitate healing.

Regularly I am asked why talking helps. I have thought about that question a lot. I think it is the first step in understanding yourself, and in that begins the true accepting of yourself. It facilitates change and growth. I offer a safe place to do exactly this. I am sometimes challenging, never judgmental, a companion, not a guide.

You may feel weighed down by trauma, stress, or the pressure of caring for others while neglecting yourself. You want clarity, relief, and a space where you can finally breathe. You may long to let go of old patterns, make sense of painful experiences, and rebuild confidence in your ability to cope. Your goal isn’t just to survive but to feel stronger, freer, and more connected, to live in a way that feels true to you.

As a Counsellor Psychotherapist I employ a Humanistic approach to counselling. I encourage self-awareness and self-realisation in an individual. I believe people have within themselves all the resources they need to lead healthy and fulfilled lives. As a counsellor I see myself helping clients to discover and access within themselves the restricted resources they need to solve problems. Helping the client safely find their way to the solution. I believe in the best interests of the client at all times and treat everyone with dignity and respect in a non-judgemental authentic approach.

Perhaps you are wondering why choose to work with me or what would this look like? We can begin with exploring what you are going through and look to increase awareness and understanding of the impact of these lived experiences, and possibly identify the origins. Your journey and experiences are unique. You bring your story and together we will navigate the feelings, thoughts, emotions and behaviours, validate the impact and create a clear picture of the change you might hope to achieve. Through this process we can also explore ways you can best implement change for an improved lived experience.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are accredited members of the main professional associations, mainly the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP). Most Psychologists are accredited members of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement in Ireland, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Ireland. Psychologists have earned a doctoral degree in psychology and many are accredited members of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a doctoral degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the IACP or ICP, they must complete a minimum of an NFQ Level 7 programme with 100 hours of clinical experience and a minimum of 450 hours of post-training clinical experience under clinical supervision.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in Ireland could cost between €50 – €90 when seeing a counsellor and €75 - €120 or more when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The National Counselling Service (NCS) is a government-funded service that provides short to medium term counselling and psychotherapy for free to individuals who have experienced trauma or abuse. The service can be accessed by GP referral or self-referral.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your eircode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the IACP, the ICP, or PSI are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others or when a child is in danger, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
