In a a warm, accepting and supportive environment, i enable clients to develop insight and to find their way through challenges. My age and life experience mean that I have a lot to offer people of all ages. I worked as a guidance counsellor in schools for 20 years before moving into other areas of education and teacher support. After retirement I completed my training in psychotherapy and have been practising for the past three years.
I work in a person-centred and pluralistic way and have also trained in several other therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) and Reality Therapy, which I can adapt and use as suits individual clients.
After my son's death in 2011, I found that bereaved parent support groups run by Anam Cara (a charity that supports bereaved parents) were a great help to me. Subsequently I co-facilitated bereaved parent groups as a volunteer for over ten years. I have worked helpfully as a therapist with many bereaved clients.
