Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is ideally suited to clients who are undergoing a certain amount of mental suffering, and are motivated to do the slow, demanding work of finding out what has given rise to it. Clients may use therapy to talk about distressing experiences they have recently or not so recently undergone, dilemmas or difficult decisions they find themselves faced with, or symptoms such as depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts and rituals, and some varieties of chronic pain for which there is no apparent medical cause.
I have had an interest in psychoanalysis both as a system of thought and as a form of therapy for many years. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy can be an enjoyable and intellectually fascinating way of getting to know one's own mind, as well as a way of bringing about change on a deep level. Treatment is fully confidential and non-judgemental.
