Is anxiety impacting your life negatively? Do you obsess in your mind over events, thoughts or feelings? Are you finding that you're stuck in patterns trying to escape yourself? These experiences are common issues for many people but can wreak havoc on all aspects of our lives leaving us exhausted and hopeless. Many do their best to cope with these circumstances on their own but without support may find themselves going round in circles with little relief and feeling trapped.

Sometimes in life you need a place to explore the difficulties that arise. Either behaviours, feelings or emotions. At times you need to be listened to confidentially and without judgement. What troubles our minds can have such a negative impact on the quality of our lives. Psychological troubles come in many forms, relational both to oneself and to others, grief and loss, behavioural problems from anxiety or depression and rage or sometimes it's hard to tell exactly what it is, only a sense that things are not right. The first brave step to take is to share that difficulty.

Are you feeling a little lost – or like you’ve been doing your best to keep going, holding it all in, while something in you feels tired, hurting, or just needs a pause? You don’t have to do it alone. Reaching this page might mean something in you is asking for support – whether in a quiet whisper, or with a roar. Maybe you're overwhelmed or unsure. Maybe something’s been quietly weighing on you, and you're wondering if it’s okay to ask for help. Whatever brings you here, you’re really welcome. You’re not broken or failing — just human. Reaching out isn’t always easy, but it’s a meaningful step — and a quiet kind of courage.

When we are suffering we tend to look at all that is wrong in our lives. We sometimes make judgements and assumptions about ourselves or our situations that focus mainly on the negative. We each have developed ways of being in the world that have enabled us to cope with whatever challenges we have had to face. These coping strategies become our defence mechanisms and are often developed by us at an early age when we had few resources. They can sometimes create negative patterns of relating to others and the world around us and become barriers to intimate or professional relationships.

Throughout our lives we encounter situations that challenge us. Sometimes we just can't get passed them, we get stuck and cannot seem to find a solution. As a result we become anxious, stressed or even depressed. I work with clients in a non directive way through psychoanalysis, which allows the client look at their situation or problems, explore the potential causes and find a way of dealing with them. There is no 'one size fits all' solution to personal difficulties, everyone's experience is unique and the psychoanalytic approach allows the client find a solution that is individual to their situation.

Hello and welcome. Are you stressed, lost, anxious? Going through divorce? Life brings many experiences our way, some good and some bad. The emotional impact of these experiences can be frightening or confusing. Our family have a lot of influence on us, how we behave, how we talk, and how we communicate. Loss, grief, and anxiety are natural responses and processing our emotions is an essential part of living a healthy life.

From working with my past client I have learned that my style works well for people who are struggling with self-criticism, low self-worth or anxiety and who are looking for a safe, non-judgemental space to explore their thoughts and emotions. They may feel stuck in unhelpful patterns and are open in gaining insight into their own experiences. This client values a warm and transparent relationship and is willing to reflect on their internal world, challenge negative thinking, and be open to change. They may not have all the answer yet, but they're willing to start the journey.

I specialise in couples and one-to-one therapy working with challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress & men's related issues. Intimacy, ED, low sex drive, pornography and relationship or social challenges are all areas I specialise in. During psychotherapy sessions I provide a confidential setting that encourages you to reflect. We will explore the feelings, emotions and impact significant events have had on the way you experience day-to-day life. We will work through your thought process moving towards the version of your life that you've always wanted. What is that vision? Does it involve laughter, smiling and being happy?

Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual. If your mind is always racing, your body feels exhausted from constant stress, or you’re struggling to find the focus and motivation you once had you’re not alone. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, major life transitions, career burnout, or the daily challenges of ADHD, feeling stuck can be deeply overwhelming. You deserve to feel calmer, more capable, and more connected to yourself and the people who matter.

Wherever you are. However you are. You are welcome. Yes, sometimes we just can’t do it on our own and we need help. Therapy is one way to resource yourself to meet some of life’s challenges. Crippling anxiety, overwhelming grief, black depression are sources of deep pain and dark suffering. They can also be as a consequence of early traumatic experiences or negative beliefs we hold about ourselves. To accept where you are is the first step in healing yourself. Hi, I’m Liam and I create a safe place for you to explore your world, where I meet you with compassion and non-judgement in a confidential setting.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
