Therapy must feel safe before it can be productive. To this end, I initially attempt to provide a sense of ease in counseling sessions. From there the conversation tends to reveal what you might like to get out of therapy- these goals can be anything at all: from wishing to feel less anxious, sad, irritable or troubled, to addressing relationship difficulties at home or at work, to trying to better understand a feeling of being unfulfilled, or to think or feel differently about the past. In many cases, the goal is to just to have a safe place to discuss anything at all in a confidential, non-judgemental setting.

As a pluralistic therapist, I work collaboratively with clients. What this means in practice is that I will do my very best from the outset to make sure that I understand your situation, and what it is like for you. From that, we work together to decide a therapeutic method that suits you best to get what you want and need from therapy. What you want from therapy is unique to you, It could be that you want to feel better about yourself, a relationship, or an event(s) that has troubled you. I aim to work responsively and flexibly to provide a safe space and framework for you to achieve that.

Throughout our lives we encounter situations that challenge us. Sometimes we just can't get passed them, we get stuck and cannot seem to find a solution. As a result we become anxious, stressed or even depressed. I work with clients in a non directive way through psychoanalysis, which allows the client look at their situation or problems, explore the potential causes and find a way of dealing with them. There is no 'one size fits all' solution to personal difficulties, everyone's experience is unique and the psychoanalytic approach allows the client find a solution that is individual to their situation.

Life can, for all of us, feel heavy, confusing or difficult to carry alone at times. Perhaps you’ve been trying to hold things together while feeling stuck or overwhelmed inside. I offer therapy as a space to make sense of what you’re experiencing and find new ways forward. This is a space to speak openly and safely. I work with individuals, couples and people in diverse relationship structures, with a focus on trauma, LGBTQ+ experiences, relationship difficulties, grief and compulsive sexual behaviour. You don’t need to have the right words before coming. You don’t have to figure this out alone. We begin where you are, at your pace

When we are suffering we tend to look at all that is wrong in our lives. We sometimes make judgements and assumptions about ourselves or our situations that focus mainly on the negative. We each have developed ways of being in the world that have enabled us to cope with whatever challenges we have had to face. These coping strategies become our defence mechanisms and are often developed by us at an early age when we had few resources. They can sometimes create negative patterns of relating to others and the world around us and become barriers to intimate or professional relationships.

I work within a humanistic, Integrative approach, including approaches such as CBT and Existential Psychotherapy. I believe in the client guiding where each session goes and gaining autonomy and confidence in what they need and want to focus on in therapy, as time goes on. As the therapist, I work in a collaborative way alongside the client and help them to explore, what in their lives and relationships might be troubling them, including the relationship we have with ourselves. I believe that each person can tap into an inner self that guides and protects them and that each person has the resilience within them to face any struggle.

You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or the life you thought you’d be living. You might be navigating a major transition, carrying the impact of trauma, struggling with anxiety or intimacy, or trying to make sense of identity changes. For immigrants and expats, this can include the added weight of cultural adjustment, distance from home, and feeling unseen or misunderstood.

I work with couples and individuals, providing a neuro-affirmative, open approach. At any stage in life we can be met by challenges that interfere with our happiness and sense of wellbeing. Some of these challenges are caused by events like trauma, bereavement, a diagnosis of physical/mental illness or a relationship breakdown. Or, we may feel out of balance or sad, our thoughts are negative and we can't connect. Our relationships may be suffering. We are not sure what is causing this, we just know that we are not living a full life, something is missing or holding us back. Couples may be in crisis and wondering if they can last.

People who come to therapy want to make changes in their life. At some time we will all face circumstances which challenge our resilience: illness; bereavement and mortality; depression and anxiety; trauma and violence; relationship problems; career difficulties; loss of identity; spiritual crisis. When difficult experiences leave us feeling helpless and stuck, the work of self-exploration opens new doors of possibility.
