Jonny Darling works in private practice providing professional treatment to persons sixteen and over with issues of identity, rifts in relationships, questions of sexuality and occupational difficulties. He has experience working with nervous disorders, addiction, childhood trauma, bereavement and depression. Jonny invites those attending psychotherapy to bring whatever it is that disturbs their sense of themselves; the nonsense of dreams, the absurdities of waking life, the oddity of others, and estrangement with oneself. This is a round-about way of working with distress in order to get at the heart of the matter.

Hi, I'm Laura. As a Children's Therapist, I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for young people to explore and express their emotions. I understand that verbalising feelings can be challenging for children, especially at a young age, which is why I use various techniques, such as art, play, storytelling, puppets, games and sand, to facilitate their self-expression in a child-friendly manner. This approach allows for a deeper understanding of their experiences and helps in processing difficult emotions.

During journey of our life we come across many challenges, some posed by external environment, some by our internal environment. We manage most of them by our coping mechanisms and problem solving skills. I believe everyone of us has the capacity to deal with our external / internal environment using our strengths / values / attitudes / communication to name a few. According to Carl Rogers we are on a continued path of becoming a person. In order to achieve this, self awareness becomes one of the most important factor. I consider myself privileged to to have accompanied my clients on their journey of their becoming..

Based in Wicklow Town, Dr. Alistair McBride has an integrative and existential approach to counselling and psychotherapy. I see life’s challenges—such as anxiety, suffering, trauma, and conflict—not merely as symptoms to eliminate, but as invitations to explore deeper meaning. Blending Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and CBT techniques, my practice is rooted in Existential Therapy, which encourages living authentically, embracing uncertainty, and connecting with what matters.

I Specialise in Narcissistic Abuse Recovery. I suffered from anxiety&panic attacks for 22yrs due to bullying & narcissistic abuse, which held my back from achieving my goals until I got help. Being a Co-dependent people pleaser meant that I was putting other people’s wants and needs before my own, trying to get acceptance, manage the situation and to keep the peace. This was exhausting until I learned how to take my personal power back

I am a Systemic Psychotherapist, working from my peaceful home in the Wicklow country side, where I offer a calm and welcoming space for individuals, couples, families and adolescents. My work is grounded in relationships and how we connect, communicate and make sense of our experiences. I also offer walking therapy for those who feel more at ease in nature. Being outside can bring a different kind of clarity and calm and often the act of walking side by side can allow thoughts to flow more freely. My aim is always to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood and gently supported towards change.

If it’s time to connect with yourself and understand your journey, image making—guided by psychoanalytic principles—can provide a profound path to self-discovery and emotional healing. Many people struggle to express emotions through words alone. Whether you're an adolescent navigating the uncertainties of growing up or an adult processing life’s challenges, the ability to explore feelings through image making can unlock insights buried deep in the unconscious. Image making offers a gentle, reflective, and non-verbal approach to understanding emotions, fostering personal growth, and building resilience.

How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
