As a parent educator I also support parents to increase their child's self-confidence and encourage positive behaviour by developing life skills and building mutually respectfully relationships.
It can be daunting starting therapy and there are lots of reasons why people seek the support of a counsellor. I offer a safe and confidential place where you are given time and space to talk about any difficulties you may be experiencing. Sometimes just talking things through with an empathetic listener helps us to make sense of our challenges, look at them a different way and learn new skills to navigate them. My approach is kind, compassionate and non-judgemental. Therapy is a journey that we take together and I aim to support you on that journey.

I have worked as a crisis therapist. and with clients bereaved by suicide with Pieta. Additionally, I work with clients who can often feel misunderstood, unseen, and unheard. Many of us may become overwhelmed and struggle with addiction, bereavement, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, loneliness, feelings of isolation and more. I believe healing is a process. I facilitate a space for you to explore your needs and life goals more deeply, observing your strengths, qualities and values that can offer you a more meaningful life. Sometimes, we may forget who we are. A Sufi saying "I am a hidden teasure and I long to be known".

I promote improved awareness of benefits of a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on mental fitness and connection to self. BEING as connected and as aligned with our own true essence is probably one of the most challenging aspects of being HUMAN. For most of my life, I allowed my self-care and attention to be shifted and conditioned to serve others over my own core and essential needs. I now help you, through my experience and through the tools and techniques I have developed, to (re)discover, better appreciate and nurture unconditional self-love and care for the beautiful person you are (at your core).

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
