I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely met as a human being, not analysed, fixed, or judged. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves or others, often after long periods of coping alone. My role is to offer a steady, compassionate space where we can slow things down, make sense of what’s happening, and gently work towards change that feels real and sustainable.

I am well aware that life can be a struggle when trying to deal with anxiety, depression, profound sadness, grief, relationship issues, emotional upheavals, stress, long standing hurt or deeply embedded trauma. Sometimes it’s about self exploration. I offer a warm, safe, welcoming and non judgmental space where clients can come and examine how they see themselves in their world; explore unhelpful behavioral patterns and look at how they are in relationship to others and themselves. At all times in the Counselling space, I work from my heart; from a place of compassion and love, with genuine acceptance of the client just as they are

I believe that each client is unique. This is an important element that must be addressed in finding a bespoke solution to the issues that hold them back from finding serenity in their lives. The disfunction that we manifest is like a toxic suit of armor that we wear to insulate us from pain and hurt not realizing that the armor rather than protecting us only delays the work we must do and hence the armour becomes its own disfunction. I am a Psychotherapist and Addiction Counsellor Accredited by both IACP and ACI. I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy with clients wishing to explore a wide range of issues.

My ideal client is an adult who may be feeling overwhelmed, unsettled, or a little stuck in their life. This can show up in many ways, such as anxiety, stress, low mood, challenges in relationships or work, academic pressures, fertility-related concerns, or worries around gambling or other coping behaviours. Some people come to therapy with a clear focus, while others simply have a sense that something is not quite right. Often, they are looking for clarity, steadiness, and a place where they can slow down, reflect, and feel genuinely heard.

There are many reasons to engage in therapy. If you have found your way here, I imagine you may be struggling with some part of yourself or with someone in your life. You might be looking for help and support with problems that seem overwhelming. You may have a sense that you are not living the life you want to live and wish to step more confidently forward. Psychotherapy offers you a chance to slow down and step out of your daily life, refocus on your needs and goals, a path of self-development and learning.

“Overactive” busy minds have difficulty slowing down. I see it everyday. Having genes for a mental illness does not guarantee having one. Exposure to traumas is also needed to cause a disturbance in transmitters and hormones in the body. I help a person when they are looking for help in reducing psychiatric medications or before taking them. My experience involves helping a person process their traumas to heal them emotionally. In Walsh protocol , food supplements are prescribed instead of psychotropic medications that participate in hormonal and neurotransmitter metabolism. I can speak English, Hindi/ Urdu and Punjabi.

I come from a person centred stance in meeting each client where they are at, emotionally and psychologically. As an integrative counsellor, art psychotherapist and addiction counsellor, i believe in the resilience and motivation of people to be the best self, they can be. However, not everybody has that sense of self, and at times life can bring you on a journey you could not have predicted. Within a compassionate, safe space, it is always good to talk.

When we are suffering we tend to look at all that is wrong in our lives. We sometimes make judgements and assumptions about ourselves or our situations that focus mainly on the negative. We each have developed ways of being in the world that have enabled us to cope with whatever challenges we have had to face. These coping strategies become our defence mechanisms and are often developed by us at an early age when we had few resources. They can sometimes create negative patterns of relating to others and the world around us and become barriers to intimate or professional relationships.

Many adults come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, overthinking, shame, addiction, or long-standing patterns they can’t seem to change. Some struggle with relationship difficulties, emotional neglect from childhood, low self-worth, or a constant sense of pressure to cope alone. Others feel stuck, burned out, numb, or disconnected from themselves. Therapy can help you make sense of what you’re feeling and begin to untangle the emotional weight you’ve been carrying.

Supporting high-functioning professionals, managers, and leaders under pressure to reclaim calm, clarity, and confidence. I work with adults in demanding leadership and professional roles — often navigating ADHD, burnout, anxiety, low mood, or performance fatigue. Many of my clients are capable and high-functioning, but they want more than just survival. They want clarity. Calm. Confidence. Progress, not perfection. I can help. Clients often tell me that therapy helped them re-engage with work and life — with the zest they used to have. I’m also the author of Healing Witness, a poetry therapy collection with reflection exercises

Hi, I am very much a Person-Centred / Humanistic Counsellor who allows the client to explore their issues and find their own way forward. I believe that sometimes we just need to stop and breath and allow ourselves the space to explore what’s next for us. I understand that counselling is not a 'one size fits all' process so I work on an integrated basis with the client to explore the therapies that will work for them. I have a special interest in bereavement as I have been working with clients who have lost loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic. My own history of loss has helped me a great deal in this area.

Alice believes that the strength of the relationship between a therapist and client is essential. It is only when a safe, non-judgemental, empathetic and trusting space is created that clients can feel empowered to explore their own thoughts, feelings and beliefs creating greater self-awareness and a deeper self-acceptance. This healing process leads to the client enhancing their relationships as well as helping them to gain more control over their life. Alice has worked with an array of issues, including bereavement, grief, depression, anxiety, stress, family and relationship issues, sexual abuse, self-harming and childhood trauma.

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
