At its core my practice emphasises self-acceptance and personal growth through person-centred care. I have a particular interest in the lasting impact of trauma—both psychological and physiological. To support healing, I use a range of evidence-based, mind-body approaches, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). Therapy can work - let it work for you.

Together, we work gently and at your pace, using approaches like EMDR to help process trauma, ease distress, and reconnect with your strength.
I support people facing trauma, anxiety, grief, stress, and fertility or pregnancy loss. Some clients come for EMDR, a structured approach that helps process painful memories. Others choose psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which allows for deeper exploration over time. Together we’ll find what feels right for you.

Because we now know that continuous stress can seriously contribute to promoting illnesses as time goes by - I help my clients to take back control over their reactions to their life's stresses. Most of our life we run on auto-pilot because we think we are to busy to change, thus allowing our habits, behaviours, reactions to control us! I help you become more aware, to broaden your perspective, create more empowering options which are right for you. In the process you get to remember your strengths, achievements, talents, skills, to draw on helping you get out of the rut and propel you forward.

Post graduate Gestalt training, trauma work, EMDR training and relational Gestalt supervision training
A client describes her experience of therapy: 'For the first time I felt heard and understood. My feelings and thoughts were of importance and I felt accepted and validated in being me. No one had ever told me that it was okay to have my own experiences, to be sad, angry, frustrated, etc. And now through the experience of therapy I can accept who I am and I am embracing change in new and exciting ways'. Underpinning all my work is the belief that change and healing can only take place within relationship and within and through the experience of the therapeutic encounter an individual comes home to their true potential

EMDR Counsellors
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
