I worked with people with mental health difficulties, disabilities & challenging behaviours & children in care & their families/guardians.
Hi there. The decision to take time to engage in therapy is huge. Talking to a stranger & not knowing what to expect from them. Not every therapist is going to be a good fit for you. This is your service & you are paying for it. I always say our 1st appointment is about you taking charge, coming in & meeting me & deciding if this is going to be a good fit. If it is that's great, if its not and you feel comfortable to say this I will be delighted to recommend a colleague. I will fully support you in this. I take each person as they come and we work together at their pace. Everyone needs and deserves support.

Are you feeling confused in understanding your partner, child’s or others challenging behaviour?
In recent times, there has been more and more research in the field of Psychotherapy and Counselling which shows that it is not the type of therapy/counselling that is the significant factor in effectiveness but the significant influence is the relationship that occurs between Therapist and the Individual through a process openess, kind enquiry&acceptance .

Art Psychotherapy offers a unique way for adults, teens and children to express themselves through the use of materials, no art skills are necessary. Our client-centered sessions provide a safe space to address challenges including trauma, attachment difficulties, selective mutism, depression, anxiety, and neurodivergent issues including ASD. Important milestones may cause a sense of overwhelming difficulty for a young person. This may have a negative impact on the young person’s ability to transition to new experiences, develop friendships and relationships and may also contribute to academic challenges.

I am a Systemic Psychotherapist, working from my peaceful home in the Wicklow country side, where I offer a calm and welcoming space for individuals, couples, families and adolescents. My work is grounded in relationships and how we connect, communicate and make sense of our experiences. I also offer walking therapy for those who feel more at ease in nature. Being outside can bring a different kind of clarity and calm and often the act of walking side by side can allow thoughts to flow more freely. My aim is always to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood and gently supported towards change.

Child Counsellors

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
