I work with women that feel stuck, particularly in relationships or professional situations that have them feeling overwhelmed, overlooked, unappreciated or undervalued. I help them release any latent beliefs or stories that are holding them back and reconnect to their most powerful and successful selves with a renewed sense of identity, a vision for how they'd like their life to be and the ability to reach their potential to get there.

Clients come to counselling when their normal coping mechanisms are no longer working for them and they are feeling overwhelmed, confused and afraid. It may be due to anxiety in their life, stress in work or relationships, low self esteem or depression. They come looking for clarity, a sense of understanding that they are not alone in what they are feeling and perhaps for practical techniques to manage the conflicting emotions. They also want to be really listened to and not to be judged as they tell their story.

From my perspective, psychotherapy means healing. It is the opening, where individuals begin to experience a more full contact with themselves and the outside world. I help them understand their emotions that signpost their needs. I help them to discover their unfulfilled needs and, together, we look for obstacles and barriers that could prevent people from fully enjoying their lives. One step at a time, they become increasingly ready to lead their lives consciously. They begin to authentically live, rather than continue, their lives.

Talking is medicine. I don't mean it's like medicine; I mean IT IS medicine. It heals. It gives clarity and perspective; It makes people feel better. I have been lucky enough to help and witness people change how they think and feel so that life feels easier - not so damn difficult all the time. I have seen the smiles on faces as lifelong emotional burdens are put down and life can be lived fully again. I have had the privilege of helping people from all walks of life deal with many types of issues; from the immediate, such as trouble with work, to challenges and issues whose roots stretch back to childhood.

Are you feeling weighed down by overwhelming thoughts and emotions? Perhaps you’re struggling to focus, wrestling with procrastination, or finding it hard to make decisions. Racing thoughts, self-doubt, and a lack of confidence may be keeping you stuck in a cycle of negativity. Maybe you’re questioning your sense of purpose, feeling anxious, tense, or even emotionally distant. Or perhaps you’re coping with grief, enduring physical symptoms like headaches or body pain, or having trouble finding restful sleep. If any of this feels familiar, know that you don’t have to be on your own in navigating any of these issues. Support is here.

When I started my career as a newly-graduated psychologist back in 2013, I soon discovered that most of my clients were expressing a significant degree of dissatisfaction in life; anxiety, stress and low self-worth were widespread.
This therapy had a profound impact on my life. I quickly developed a deep sense of purpose, began to face challenges with greater ease, and, most importantly, began to treat myself like I would a dear friend. I’m dedicated to sharing the transformative benefits of ACT with others.

Creativity can be joyous while also bringing us into contact with things like self-doubt, fear, blocks, fatigue, and sometimes crossroads around work and career choices.
The way I work is guided by the values of curiosity, creativity, and compassion. My aim is to offer you a freeing, non-judgemental environment where you can really be yourself; a safe space where you are encouraged to explore, question and grow in your own time; where every experience, feeling and part of you is welcome, particularly those ones that have been out in cold. At the start, the process can be like a ball of yarn, with many different threads tangled together. We will collaborate to unravel these threads, weaving them into something that makes more sense and is hopefully more manageable.

Career Guidance Counsellors

How do I know if I need career counselling?

Determining whether a career counsellor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counselling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counsellor.

Who can benefit from career counselling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counselling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counselling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counsellor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counselling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counselling typically last?

The length of career counselling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counselling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counsellor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counselling?

Clients can prepare for career counselling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counsellor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counsellor, particularly if the career counsellor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counselling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
