I am passionate about helping people, whether it is related to helping clients to realise their own self-worth, or aiding individuals through their experiences with challenging negative thoughts and perspectives. This can also relate to helping people cope with disorders such as OCD and anxiety, or helping people change that negative outlook they may have on themselves or other aspects of their lives. It is important to remember that every feeling and emotion you experience is valid. It is very easy to get caught up in some of the obstacles life can throw at you, and sometimes we can forget to look after ourselves.

I currently work in person with children, adolescents and adults in Kilkenny and online. I believe that there are times in life when we need someone to turn to, who can help us make sense of things and cope with difficult feelings or situations. I'm here to offer that support. I provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where my clients feel listened to and held, supporting the exploration of problems, challenges and feelings which may be difficult to talk about. At the heart of my practice is the belief that you have the inner resources to implement change. I am here to facilitate that through our work together.

I work with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that are difficult to shift alone. This can include anxiety, low mood, OCD, trauma, or longer-term emotional difficulties. Some people are managing day to day but feel burnt out, disconnected, or struggling with self-esteem. Many are high-functioning and used to coping independently. I work in a neurodiversity-affirming way and aim to bring clarity to what is happening beneath the surface, so change feels more possible. You don’t need a diagnosis to begin therapy.

You might have been functioning at a high level, professionally or relationally, holding it all together for yourself and often for others too. You can probably name many inner resources that have helped you get where you are, and you might be known for being empathetic, organised, active or wise. You may even be the first in your family to have come this far through expatriation, higher education, building a family of your own or a successful career. It often comes at a cost, and this may be why you're here. If some areas of life feel heavy right now, it's okay to ask for support. This could be your space to feel, heal and grow.

I have 15 years experience working with adolescents, adults, and older adults from diverse backgrounds, supporting people through the issues that bring most of us to therapy at some point — anxiety, depression, complex trauma, grief and loss, addiction, and the relational patterns we find ourselves stuck in. Our job together is to identify what's getting in the way of the life you want, understand how those patterns took hold, and gently remove the inner and outer obstacles that are keeping you stuck. The focus is on real change, in how you feel, how you relate, and how you move through the world.

Contact Via WhatsApp/Email. My focuses are relationships, eating disorders, & addiction. In both our relationships with self and others, most long to experience love, belonging & growth. In relationships and in hardships, I see infinite potential for transformation and evolution: through the stuck places, the old patterns, the failed attempts to connect or feel safe. Underneath, the true you is waiting to be heard through the surface ‘symptoms’. If you can recognise where you’re at, you’re halfway there — and rather than just treating the symptoms, together we listen to what’s underneath, and help you to get free from the root.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
