I am a cognitive behavioural therapist/health coach with over 20 years of experience in health and well-being. I've worked in rehabilitation for more than ten years, helping people become the best version of themselves. I achieve this by understanding my own challenges and victories. I engage in an open, trusting environment with a connection that encourages others to grow. My passion is helping others challenge their own limiting self-beliefs, thus bringing them to a space of self-acceptance and positive change.

I work with adolescents from 12 years + , adults & couples.
By looking at the emotional needs and wants I help clients to really understand the complexity of what is underneath the emotions they experience. We can present with a symptom like emotion such as fear, anger or people pleasing. However, when we fully understand where this comes from we become more aware, and with awareness, we then have the ability to make choices on how we want to proceed.

I have a particular interest in working with adolescent clients (from 12 years) experiencing anxiety and school refusal, and with adult clients experiencing sex addiction and gambling addiction.
At In-Focus Psychotherapy, therapy is not about fixing what’s “wrong” with you - it’s about exploring what’s real and true for you. Together, we’ll consider how your past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may be shaping how you feel and live today. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, depressed, lost, broken, wrong, or simply curious about why you are as you are, this is a place to look beneath the surface, make sense of what isn't working, and move toward lasting, meaningful change in your life. We’ll work at your pace, in a way that feels safe and supported, and always guided by acceptance and curiosity.

As a pre-accredited member of the IACP, I practise in line with their ethical standards and have been working with adult clients since 2023.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just not quite yourself lately? Do you feel like you are on a "hampster wheel", loosing yourself while caring for everyone else. Maybe things look “fine” on the outside, but inside it feels a bit heavier or harder than it should. If that sounds familiar, you’re not on your own. I’m here to listen and help you make sense of things, so they don’t feel as heavy. You might want to identify and work towards what you want for your life, talk through something that’s happening at the moment, or come to terms with experiences from your past that still feel unresolved. All of that is welcome here.

I work with adults who want more than short-term reassurance: they want to understand the deeper roots of their difficulties and begin to restore psychological stability, emotional balance, and lasting change.
In therapy, we work together to explore how anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and relationship difficulties may be connected to unconscious conflicts, early experiences, and repeated emotional patterns. Understanding these deeper roots can help alleviate emotional pain and support healing, stability, and personal growth.

Behind every person who feels despair, lost, alone, helpless, panicked, depressed, trapped, is a person who can be helped. Sharing the burden, feeling supported, being heard, not feeling judged, empathy- these are all aspects of counselling that I provide. For some, it means telling their story and being heard properly, maybe for the first time ever. I have a passion for helping people to understand themselves better and working with them to remove the blocks in the way of their inner peace. Importantly, I always believe that change, release from suffering and a better way forward is possible for every person.

I am a fully accredited, Garda vetted counsellor working in Caragh, Naas and online. The client is always at the centre of the counselling process and their holistic psychological welfare is of utmost importance. Our counselling space is a safe environment where the beliefs and values of the client are respected and their sense of independence and growth are nurtured.Initially, I see my role as one of facilitating the individual’s exploration of their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. My integrative training then allows me to be fluid in my approach and draw on other schools of psychotherapy as our counselling journey progresses.

FAQ - About Adult Counselling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioural therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it's important to understand a therapist's treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It's also important to consider a therapist's training when seeking care. Therapists in Ireland hold various credentials depending on their training. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are often registered with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) and/or the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) and their qualifications and practice are overseen by these professional organisations. Many Psychologists are registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), signifying that they are currently working toward or have completed postgraduate training and supervised practice, and can use the titles of Chartered Psychologist (C.Psychol. PsSI) or Graduate Member (M.Ps.S.I). All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
