Sometimes life can just feel out of kilter and we don't know why, or the weight of every day life is heavy. When we feel like this it can be helpful to have someone to talk to who is not already involved and invested in your life. I work across a spectrum of mental health concerns, but have a particular interest in trauma, grief / loss , maternal mental health (in particular crisis pregnancy and miscarriage), addiction, depression, anxiety, low-self esteem and perfectionism.

If you are experiencing relationship difficulties, bereavement , life transitions, anger, stress, low mood, anxiety etc please feel free to come and talk.
It is impossible to tell you exactly what your therapy process will be like, as you are unique, with your own experience, strengths and difficulties. Good therapy will be tailored to you and your individual situation. That said, in all models of therapeutic work I will work with you to define your goals and to develop the steps you will take to achieve those goals in therapy. Your therapeutic process will not only focus on your current situation and experiences, but also on the internal patterns that may be contributing to how you are feeling.

I work with such issues as ; Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Bereavement , Loss & Grief , Addiction, Relationship issues, Life Direction, Self-Esteem.
Behind every person who feels despair, lost, alone, helpless, panicked, depressed, trapped, is a person who can be helped. Sharing the burden, feeling supported, being heard, not feeling judged, empathy- these are all aspects of counselling that I provide. For some, it means telling their story and being heard properly, maybe for the first time ever. I have a passion for helping people to understand themselves better and working with them to remove the blocks in the way of their inner peace. Importantly, I always believe that change, release from suffering and a better way forward is possible for every person.

I use a psychoanalytical approach to help people explore how the unconscious mind affects current relationships and patterns of thought, emotion and behavior, especially in the context of continually experiencing loss and traumatic events.
I am helping people to become aware of the underlying sources of their difficulties, intellectually and emotionally. This enables my clients to develop coping skills that allow them to deal with the realities of their life situation. I provide a confidential and safe space which creates the opportunity for people speak without the fear of being judged in order to help them to understand the experiences that have shaped their lives and are affecting their ability to deal with current difficulties. The purpose of this insight is to help them to bring about major change on their whole life perspective.

I have clinical experience of working therapeutically with trauma, depression, grief , relationship issues, self esteem issues, anxiety, anger management and broader life issues.
The client is always at the centre of the counselling process and their holistic psychological welfare is of utmost importance. Our counselling space is a safe environment where the beliefs and values of the client are respected and their sense of independence and growth are nurtured.Initially, I see my role as one of facilitating the individual’s exploration of their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. My integrative training then allows me to be fluid in my approach and draw on other schools of psychotherapy as our counselling journey progresses.

I work with my clients to help them meet life’s challenges, including depression, anxiety, anger, grief , and relationship conflicts.
My goal as your counsellor is to make you feel supported, heard, and understood as you make this important decision to invest in yourself and your future. Each of us possesses intuitive wisdom about what we want and need for a healthy and balanced life. Counselling lets us dig deep and bring that inner knowing to the surface, into our awareness. Once we know better, we can do better, working toward positive change, healing, and peace.

Welcome and thank you for checking out my profile. If you are experiencing feelings of grief , sadness, isolation, anxiety, depression, anger or if you are experiencing the stress of a relationship breakup or divorce, sometimes the best way to process these feelings is to work through them with a qualified counsellor. My own experience of counselling as a client has shown me the healing power of talking therapy. Also, as a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist I have seen the healing power of counselling for the many different issues I work with in my therapy practice

Life has a habit of leaning too heavily on us at times and for longer than expected. After trying many ways to break through form the dis-ease, sadness, grief , anger, pain, fear, or trauma, trying so hard to be ok you realise "I need support". That inner knowing is calling out for change or someone to hear what has been happening for you. I would like to offer you time, a safe space to be heard and together we will develop a relationship which allows you to say what you have kept in your heart for so long and open space for your heart to heal. “We will trace the thread of life, find the knot and untangle it” Martha Ostenso

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
