People often come to therapy when the ways they have used to manage emotional pain are no longer working, or have begun to affect their relationships, confidence, and ability to feel at ease with themselves, yet something keeps pulling them back into anxiety, low mood, grief, painful relationships, or emotional instability. I work with adults who want more than short-term reassurance: they want to understand the deeper roots of their difficulties and begin to restore psychological stability, emotional balance, and lasting change.

Therapy can be challenging, but it can also be very rewarding. Everyone deserves to be heard and supported. Looking forward to meeting you :)

I work with couples and individuals, providing a neuro-affirmative, open approach. At any stage in life we can be met by challenges that interfere with our happiness and sense of wellbeing. Some of these challenges are caused by events like trauma, bereavement, a diagnosis of physical/mental illness or a relationship breakdown. Or, we may feel out of balance or sad, our thoughts are negative and we can't connect. Our relationships may be suffering. We are not sure what is causing this, we just know that we are not living a full life, something is missing or holding us back. Couples may be in crisis and wondering if they can last.

With strong foundations in somatic, emotional and cognitive therapies, I also offer the swifter interventions of Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). Some clients want a quick fix, some want to explore and experience personal development. Some clients are top down, and others are bottom up. Some clients just need to talk, some don’t want to talk at all. Recognising these needs in how I work with each individual client is essential.

If food, body image, bingeing, purging, restricting, or constant thoughts about eating are taking up too much space in your life, you are not alone and you are absolutely welcome here. I work closely with people struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image difficulties, anxiety, and trauma. Often, these struggles can feel exhausting, isolating, and honestly… a bit like your brain has become an unpaid full-time critic. Together, we work to quiet that noise, untangle unhelpful patterns, and build a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food, your body and yourself.

I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, OCD, ADHD, autism, depression, relationship difficulties, or LGBTQIA+ mental health. What brings people to me varies. Sometimes, it's something specific, like intrusive thoughts or a relationship that's struggling; sometimes, it's a more general feeling that things aren't working the way they want them to. I have firsthand experience with ADHD, OCD, and anxiety, which means I understand what these things actually feel like day to day. I work in blocks of four to six sessions with a review, so we can check that the work is going in the right direction.

Clients whom I have worked with are mostly seeking a safe and trusting space where they can be listened to at a deep level and their personal history better understood and integrated through a trauma lens. Often something happened that made it unsafe for them to be who they really are which resulted in life long self limiting beliefs. They are seeking change and are willing to commit to personal work that begins to help to reduce these long held self limiting internal belief systems.

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
