People often come to therapy when the ways they have used to manage emotional pain are no longer working, or have begun to affect their relationships, confidence, and ability to feel at ease with themselves, yet something keeps pulling them back into anxiety, low mood, grief, painful relationships, or emotional instability. I work with adults who want more than short-term reassurance: they want to understand the deeper roots of their difficulties and begin to restore psychological stability, emotional balance, and lasting change.

My wish for each client is that they be well. Every client comes to therapy with different needs. With strong foundations in somatic, emotional and cognitive therapies, I also offer the swifter interventions of Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). Some clients want a quick fix, some want to explore and experience personal development. Some clients are top down, and others are bottom up. Some clients just need to talk, some don’t want to talk at all. Recognising these needs in how I work with each individual client is essential.

I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, OCD, ADHD, autism, depression, relationship difficulties, or LGBTQIA+ mental health. What brings people to me varies. Sometimes, it's something specific, like intrusive thoughts or a relationship that's struggling; sometimes, it's a more general feeling that things aren't working the way they want them to. I have firsthand experience with ADHD, OCD, and anxiety, which means I understand what these things actually feel like day to day. I work in blocks of four to six sessions with a review, so we can check that the work is going in the right direction.

I believe the answers to our own problems are within us. You are the expert. The narrator of your story. Your experience is unique. Only you know what it is to be you. How it feels. My role is simply one of companion. It is hoped that as you journey along at your own pace you will begin to unravel and understand who you are and why you feel the way you do. This insight has the potential to make sense of your difficulties. To find the light in the dark. To see new roads to travel, better ways to live, and new eyes to see the world. To eventually have the courage to take the road meant for you. To become who you truly are.

By looking at the emotional needs and wants I help clients to really understand the complexity of what is underneath the emotions they experience. We can present with a symptom like emotion such as fear, anger or people pleasing. However, when we fully understand where this comes from we become more aware, and with awareness, we then have the ability to make choices on how we want to proceed.

You may be going through a difficult period, struggling to make sense of a life transition, feeling stuck, anxious or low, or simply unsure whether therapy is right for you. I offer a space to pause, reflect, and explore what you need at your own pace.
Many of the people I work with are used to managing on their own, and come to therapy when that no longer feels sustainable.
I welcome and affirm clients from LGBTQ+ communities, and I aim to provide a neurodiversity-affirming space where difference is respected and understood.

For many neurodivergent people, the nervous system is already stretched before anything dramatic happens. Then something does — a new job's relentless demands, a relationship slowly coming apart, a loss you couldn't shake. Other people move on. You tell yourself it wasn't a big deal. But your body doesn't get that message. Managing sensory load, masking, adapting. And then something overwhelming lands on top. The system can stay braced long after. On edge. Freezing where you didn't before. Chest tight. Sleep changed. Reacting and not sure why. It doesn't always feel like "trauma." Sometimes it just feels confusing.

Sexual Abuse Counsellors
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
