I have clinical experience of working therapeutically with trauma, depression, grief, relationship issues, self esteem issues, anxiety, anger management and broader life issues.
I am a fully accredited, Garda vetted counsellor working in Caragh, Naas and online. The client is always at the centre of the counselling process and their holistic psychological welfare is of utmost importance. Our counselling space is a safe environment where the beliefs and values of the client are respected and their sense of independence and growth are nurtured.Initially, I see my role as one of facilitating the individual’s exploration of their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. My integrative training then allows me to be fluid in my approach and draw on other schools of psychotherapy as our counselling journey progresses.

I will provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore whatever is preventing you moving forward in your life. My job is to facilitate healing and to support you in the choices you make in the future. I believe the relationship between therapist and client is most important and the style of therapy used must reflect the needs of each person.

Anne Marie is an experienced psychotherapist. She works with individuals when they are struggling by helping them find solutions to their problems by creating a safe space where they can untangle their thoughts and process their feelings. Some of these thoughts or feelings can restrict a persons life and keep them feeling stuck. Identifying what keeps a person stuck or drains them is the first step in a process that enables individuals to become unblocked so that they can move forward and live the life they want to live.

Crippling anxiety, overwhelming grief, black depression are sources of deep pain and dark suffering.
I qualified in 2012 and since then I have trained in CBT, emotion therapy, addictive behaviours, and grief and loss. My approach is an integrative one, blending these therapeutic modalities to the specific needs of the client as well as to the times we live in: the pandemic has left many of us feeling isolated and alone and uncertain of what lies ahead.

Employing a psychoanalytical approach, I guide individuals in exploring how their unconscious mind influences current relationships, thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors, particularly in the context of recurrent loss and traumatic events.
Navigating the complexities of life necessitates a profound understanding of the psychological factors that influence mental health. My role is to assist clients in identifying these underlying sources of their struggles. By fostering a relationship built on trust and mutual respect, I create a confidential environment where clients can freely express themselves without fear of judgment. This open dialogue is essential for recognizing the experiences that have shaped their journey and the challenges they currently face.

Some reasons you might look for counselling may be:● Depression ● Anxiety ● Panic Attacks ● Struggling with Relationships ● Confidence and Self Esteem ● Bereavement
I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among clients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the client and counselor alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results. Our therapy sessions can either be in English or in Romanian.

I work with such issues as ; Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Bereavement, Loss & Grief, Addiction, Relationship issues, Life Direction, Self-Esteem.
Behind every person who feels despair, lost, alone, helpless, panicked, depressed, trapped, is a person who can be helped. Sharing the burden, feeling supported, being heard, not feeling judged, empathy- these are all aspects of counselling that I provide. For some, it means telling their story and being heard properly, maybe for the first time ever. I have a passion for helping people to understand themselves better and working with them to remove the blocks in the way of their inner peace. Importantly, I always believe that change, release from suffering and a better way forward is possible for every person.

Bereavement Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
