Many of our struggles are not signs of weakness but responses to pain, loss, and unmet emotional needs. I aim to offer a compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients feel safe enough to be understood, reconnect with themselves, and explore healing with curiosity, honesty, and self-acceptance.

Welcome and thank you for checking out my profile. If you are experiencing feelings of grief, sadness, isolation, anxiety, depression, anger or if you are experiencing the stress of a relationship breakup or divorce, sometimes the best way to process these feelings is to work through them with a qualified counsellor. My own experience of counselling as a client has shown me the healing power of talking therapy. Also, as a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist I have seen the healing power of counselling for the many different issues I work with in my therapy practice

Because we now know that continuous stress can seriously contribute to promoting illnesses as time goes by - I help my clients to take back control over their reactions to their life's stresses. Most of our life we run on auto-pilot because we think we are to busy to change, thus allowing our habits, behaviours, reactions to control us! I help you become more aware, to broaden your perspective, create more empowering options which are right for you. In the process you get to remember your strengths, achievements, talents, skills, to draw on helping you get out of the rut and propel you forward.

I’m practising a long time and have experience with many client groups, from children and teenagers, families in various stages of disharmony, couples and individuals. I’m comfortable with both long term process work, and faster, solution focused, pieces. What is essential for change is to feel comfortable and trust the process. Relationships are always part of therapy so each session needs to be a safe and helpful experience. An important part of this work is to become aware of unconscious triggers and, ultimately, to gain control over these experiences, giving yourself the choice to behave in a way that better benefits you.

I love working with clients navigating anxiety, health worries, self-esteem struggles, or body-image concerns and feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to “have it all figured out.” Clients who want to feel calmer, more confident, and more connected to their own needs and are seeking a space where they can speak freely, understand themselves with more compassion, and learn practical tools to ease anxiety and build a more trusting relationship with their mind and body.At their core, they want to feel grounded, capable, and at home within themselves.

I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can explore what’s troubling you—at your own pace, in your own time. My work focuses on the most important relationship you have: the one with yourself. I hold a strong belief that you have the answer to your suffering. The answer lies in your story.- You are not your story-Together we can make sense of your behaviour, feelings thoughts and emotions including what's happened to and for you. Gently, we’ll explore what may lie hidden in the unconscious—what gets triggered, what you dare not say, what patterns are holding you back and what new awareness needs to emerge.

Weight Loss Counsellors
What is the relationship between weight management and mental health?
Mental health can be significantly influenced by one's physical health, so overall improvements in one's quality of life as a result of improved physical functioning from weight loss can have an overall positive impact on an individual's mental health and allow them to engage more readily in everyday activities. In addition, many strategies used to manage weight, such as exercise and maintaining a healthy diet, are also associated with reducing the symptoms of common mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression. Individuals may also benefit from the improved self-esteem and self-efficacy that can come with successful weight management.

What is the psychological approach to losing weight?
While there are no specific therapy modalities specifically for weight loss, common psychological therapies can be highly effective in helping clients make lasting lifestyle changes. This may be called the "psychological approach" to weight loss because it does not rely on physical interventions, such as medication or weight loss surgery, to help clients lose weight. Weight loss counselling can be used in addition to or instead of such physical interventions. Some clients simply seek therapy to address the challenges that may accompany weight loss in general, including negative thoughts surrounding their body, disordered eating patterns, or difficulty completing daily tasks as a result of their weight challenges. In such cases, therapists will often utilise behavioural coaching or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to help clients understand how their thoughts may be influencing their diet and physical activity patterns.

What type of therapy is commonly used in weight loss counselling?
Weight loss counseling often involves a combination of therapy and psychoeducation. Common techniques used by weight loss counselors include journalling, thought diaries, and other Cognitive Behavioural Therapy strategies that encourage clients to consider how their feelings about their weight loss impact their mental health. Weight loss counsellors may also teach clients mindfulness exercises, which can be used by clients during and after eating to be more aware of physical cues from their body surrounding eating. Some clients looking for weight loss therapy may also benefit from group therapy approaches, which utilise the power of social connection and accountability to help clients adhere to their weight loss plan.

Is therapy recommended for individuals undergoing bariatric surgery?
While therapy is not a requirement for individuals undergoing bariatric surgery, many individuals undergoing weight loss surgery may benefit from seeing a counsellor. Prior to surgery, counsellors can help clients decide whether surgical weight loss is a good fit for them and assist in surgery preparation. Post-surgery, counsellors can assist clients with the psychological component of maintaining their weight loss, as well as help clients navigate any postoperative pain. Throughout the surgical process, therapists can help clients process body-image challenges that may come with dramatic changes in weight, as well as manage symptoms of anxiety or depression that may accompany the major life changes bariatric surgery can bring.
